Privacy & cookies

A quiet reading habit should not come at the expense of your privacy.

Who handles your information

One Chapter is an Extrafemi Labs tool. Privacy requests are handled privately through the form below and can be reviewed by authorised platform administrators. Contact addresses are not published on this page.

The operator’s full legal identity, postal address, applicable representative details and provider transfer arrangements still require confirmation. This notice describes current app controls; it is not a certification of GDPR or Nigerian data-protection compliance.

What we collect and why

  • Account email, authentication records, optional display name and profile picture: to provide and secure your account. Passwords are managed by our authentication service and are never included in data downloads.
  • Reading-plan dates and saved chapter activity: to personalise your plan and show your progress.
  • Highlights, personal notes and reflections: to keep your saved study material and provide the sharing features you choose.
  • Group ownership, membership, roles and activity: to operate group reading and authorised leader views.
  • Privacy choices and requests: to honour your preferences, respond to your requests and retain evidence of those choices.
  • Service providers may process network, security and email-delivery information needed to run and protect the service.

Account services are provided at your request. Saving activity that may reveal religious beliefs requires separate explicit consent. Security and rights-request handling may rely on legitimate interests or legal obligations, as applicable. We do not use a cookie choice as consent to religious-data processing.

Religious beliefs and shared content

Your Bible-reading activity, notes and group participation may reveal religious beliefs and are treated as sensitive information. You can read, listen and browse without an account. Signed-in readers must give explicit consent before new progress, highlights, reflections or membership changes are saved.

Highlights and personal notes are account-private. Reflections submitted without a group are public and may appear on the homepage. Group reflections are available to authorised group members. Your shared display name accompanies reflections. Group leaders can see member reading progress. Do not post sensitive information about other people.

Withdraw religious-data consent below to stop new saved activity. Previously saved information is not automatically deleted by withdrawal; request deletion or restricted processing if desired.

Cookies and browser storage

Essential browser storage maintains your session and remembers theme, reader settings and your selected plan. Your cookie choice is stored on this device for up to 180 days; changing the notice version asks you again. You can clear local data in your browser, which may sign you out and reset preferences.

No optional analytics or advertising cookies are currently installed in the application code. Optional consent defaults to off everywhere. Accepting optional cookies does not enable an unlisted tracker. New purposes or providers require an updated notice and a new choice. Declining does not prevent reading or signing in.

Providers and external content

Lovable Cloud provides account authentication, data storage and email infrastructure. Hosting and media delivery providers process information needed to serve pages and assets. Fonts are bundled with the app. Bible audio is requested from WordPocket when the audio feature is used; that provider receives the network information needed to deliver audio. External source links open other websites under their own privacy notices.

No sale of personal data or advertising targeting is implemented in the app. Provider locations, contracts and international-transfer safeguards must be confirmed by the operator before making jurisdiction-specific guarantees.

How long information stays

Saved account and reading information is retained while you use the account, unless you remove it or a deletion request is completed. Privacy choices and request records are retained to document requests and consent. A final retention schedule for inactive accounts, provider logs, mail records, privacy records and backups remains subject to operator review; no automatic purge of those records is currently promised.

Deletion requests are reviewed to address shared material, group ownership, storage files, delivery records and any legally necessary retention. A request is not complete until an administrator confirms the outcome.

Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, object to processing, or withdraw consent. A self-service download covers the account data listed below; request full access for additional provider records or an avatar copy. Profile name and avatar can be updated from your profile.

We aim to respond within one month under GDPR and applicable Nigerian deadlines. Identity verification, permitted extensions and lawful exceptions may apply; a submitted request is not a guarantee of immediate erasure. You may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or your relevant European supervisory authority. You do not have to complain to us first.

Children and security

This service is not designed to solicit children’s sensitive information. Applicable age requirements and any parent or guardian consent must be reviewed by the operator before offering child accounts. Do not submit a child’s personal information in public reflections.

Account access controls, private avatar storage and owner-scoped saved data help protect information. No system is risk-free. The operator must maintain incident-response procedures, processor agreements and any required assessments, registrations and breach notifications.
